Sometimes we assume that everyone inside and outside of the company knows exactly what it is we do and the full range of any additional products and added value services we provide.

It is a useful starting point to write down how we describe our products and services. What is the business actually doing or producing? What are our core activities and which activities have become bolted-on, or have emerged as a side effect of the main activities? What are our products and services today and what do we predict that our products and services may be in the future?
